In direct support of its “City of Miami High Impact Service Plan 2016 – 2017, the International Studies Foundation and the City of Miami jointly offer students between the ages of 12 and 14 the opportunity to take part in a very unique experience in Spain by participating in “El Camino de Santiago”, a pilgrimage route.
The students will go over the steps of the medieval pilgrims along one of the main routes of El Camino. This path will lead them to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, in Galicia (Spain).
Opportunity to travel to Spain and share the experience.
The main goal of the Project is to highlight the effort and achievement of the children from disadvantaged families by giving them the opportunity to travel to Spain and to share the experience with a similar group of Spanish students. The Project is carried out along with our students from the Access Program, which we have developed with the US Embassy in Spain.
The participants will be in contact with Spain’s historical richness and will learn to value moral principles such as teamwork, creative thinking, new strategies, evaluation of their achievements, while they establish new friendships.
Participants from Miami, must meet certain requirements such as being enrolled at a “Title I” school in the area.
A positive experience for everyone involved that may have a wonderful impact in their lives.
